National Museum of the US Army

Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Huffman serves as the Project Manager/Owner’s Representative overseeing completion of design and construction of the National Museum of the United States Army (NMUSA) on behalf of The Army Historical Foundation. This complex project requires close coordination not only with the architectural design firm of Skidmore Owens and Merrill; and the museum’s general contractor, Clark Construction; but also, the US Army to include senior Pentagon officials of the Army’s Staff and Secretariat. Huffman Developments works diligently with all stakeholders including the Army’s National Museum Project Office and other officials on the Fort Belvoir military installation as well as with the surrounding community. The project is being constructed with a combination of US Army military construction funds (approximately $34M) as well as with funds raised by the Army Historical Foundation ($166M).When complete, the NMUSA will serve as the capstone of the Army Museum System with over 30,000 artifacts, documents, and images and rotating exhibits including 15,000 pieces from the Army Art Collection. The museum will be a technological marvel incorporating the latest advances in museum exhibits and will provide the nexus for a museum without walls, eventually linking all Army museums into a virtual visitor experience. Once complete, the NMUSA is expected to welcome an estimated 750,000 visitors each year.
